Can You Really Make Money With Your Blog?
In today internet world, almost everyone who knows how to access internet has a blog. Although most of bloggers are blogging for fun or just want to share something online, there are people use it to make money and earn an income from it. You may hear that there are people making luxury income solely from blogging, but statistic shows that 90% of bloggers who have tried to make money with their blog failed to make a penny. So, can you really make money with blog?
The answer is “YES”, you can really make money with blog if you know how, or your blog will just be the same with other web pages on internet that provide information sharing to others without money being made. Making money by blogging has no different with other online businesses. You need the 3 key basics elements to successfully making money with blog. The 3 key basics elements are Web Traffic, Contents & Conversions.
1. Web Traffic
Like other businesses, if nobody knows you shop then nobody will visit your shop and know what you are selling, then no sale can be made. Same thing goes with blogging, you need to let internet surfers know your blog and lead them to visit your blog for further action. The more traffic you can generate to you blog, the more changes you can make money out of it. Hence, in order to make money with blog, you need to learn how to drive web traffic that is targeted to your blog’s topics. These are the group of people that are interested to the topics of your blog and they may become your buyers or perform any action recommended by your blog which will make you money.
2. Contents
The contents of your blog posts will make the differences that determine whether your blog will successfully make you money or not. The visitors who landed on your blog pages will click away within second if they found the contents of your blog do not meet their interest. Hence, if you want to make money successfully with your blog, you need to put some efforts to write quality contents for your blog that really provide useful information that can draws the interested of the internet surfers who reach at you blog.
3. Conversions
No money will be made if there is no conversion of visitors to customers. The products you recommended at your blog should be related to you blog content or theme. For example, your blog is about teaching people how to play golf, then the products you can recommend may include golf playing guide, golf courses, golf tournaments & other golf related products. If you choose to promote affiliate products at your blog, you will need to lead your visitors to the merchant’s website for a conversion to be made, then you should carefully select affiliate products with merchant’s landing page that can convert well, else you will wait a lot of efforts in driving web traffic, monetizing your blog visitors to visit merchant’s website but no conversion being made.
Summary
You can really make money with your blog as long as you work on the above 3 key elements so that they work and make you blog an online income stream for you.
What Webmasters Need to Know
The duties of the Webmaster are to develop and maintain an Internet presence that will provide access to content and increase awareness of the organization’s offerings. Part of the job of maintaining this kind of digital presence is ensuring user access through the site’s interface. Now, more than ever, there is a need for creativity in design and knowledge of the latest programming languages. Webmasters of yesteryear could probably perform their job sufficiently enough with proficiency in just Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Today, the number of programs and programming languages used in the Web design process has increased greatly, and access to the Internet is now possible through multiple technologies. Mobile phones, for example, are capable of accessing the Web, which makes Web building considerations more complicated and challenging than before.
Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) is a relatively new standard in HTML layout and requires a level of precision above that required for HTML. Extensible Markup Language (XML) is similar to HTML, but allows for greater separation of content and style. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) are style sheets that can be applied to Web pages to give styling control over the look of the page. Prior to the release of CSS and XSLT, styling was dependant upon the rigid and limited potential of HTML. The look of Web pages is partially shaped by graphic objects, such as photographs and drawings. Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) and Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) are the two most popular forms of graphic object formats; but, PNG (Portable Network Graphics) has recently been added to the list of options. Improvements in communication through the use of graphics has been accompanied by communication improvements through access to text by way of blogs (short for Weblog). Blogs have emerged as popular communication tools on the Internet and provide helpful options for the librarian in the realm of information accessibility.
A library, just like any organization, possesses the need to reach an Internet-based audience. Since libraries primarily serve as information providers, its electronic portal is arguably more important than it is for other organizations. Entire library catalogs require maintenance and updates to go along with their online presence. The ability to request materials and pay late fees is an increasingly popular off-site function of the library Web site and is demanded in an increasing number of libraries.
In order to describe the relationship between HTML, XHTML, and XML, the beginnings of markup languages must be discussed. Although fairly new, the origins of the Web have already evolved through many coding standards. Web page design had its roots in Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), which spawned HTML, XHTML, and XML. SGML was a much broader, albeit more complicated, document-processing system than the current markup languages. HTML, XHTML, and XML are all markup languages, which means that special tags are placed around words and paragraphs to indicate the location and appearance of the words. XML is a successful attempt at combining the simplicity of XHTML and the functionality of SGML. Although different than HTML, XHTML is still very similar to HTML.
Nesting is allowed in both HTML and XHTML. Elements are not supposed to overlap in either HTML or XHTML. Browsers will usually correct for faulty HTML syntax; but, the code is not XHTML unless the overlapping markups are corrected in the code. Sauers explains that “these differences at first glance seem minor, yet they are at the heart of what an author needs to learn in order to take advantage of XHTML”. Newer technologies tend to be mobile and small and, thus, have less memory and processing power to correct for faulty code the way HTML has allowed for. Much of the new communication devices such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) have access to the Web and perform better when the pages are designed with an adherence to XHTML. In order to bring HTML 4.0 up to the latest standards of XHTML, specific codes have to be changed.

Why Search Engine Optimization Is Important To Your Future
Building your website with search engine appeal – or search engine optimization – is more art than science but experience has shown that there are some very useful guidelines. The question is, why bother? With effective optimization you’ll attract free website traffic that the search engines will send you. Free traffic goes a long way towards not only making your site income-generating but, hopefully, profit-generating as well.
With search engine optimization you might even receive a high traffic volume. Let’s just say you have a conversion to successful sales with 5 to 10 percent of your traffic. If you get a hundred hits or more a day, you get a good number of sales already. If you get only twenty or so hits a day, you only get one or two sales if any at all. Higher traffic, especially if it’s free, means potentially higher revenue.
Search engine optimization involves a variety of methods for making your site appealing to the search engines, such as having relevant keywords, title and content. It also helps to have other similar sites linking to yours. The aim is to have your site listed in the search engine results and apearing in, preferably, the first two or three pages. The higher the better. This will ensure that your site is displayed in answer to public inquiries as being possibly relevant. In turn, this increases public awareness and directs more traffic to your site – traffic that could lead to potential sales, revenue and profit.
There are many locations on the internet that can help you improve search engine optimization, including those that help in tracking keyword phrases. For instance, the free Yahoo/Overture Suggestion Tool, as well as many commercial keyword analyzers. There are also some content writers and article directories that can provide suitable keyword-laden content for you.
However, most people performing a search examine only the ten top results, which are on the first page. Those entries further down the list languish, with little attention. So making it to the top three pages is a barometer of a site’s success in search engine optimization as you will get more people clicking through to your site when you have a higher ranking on these pages. And, as mentioned, more traffic means more business for you.
As you might have guessed, search engine optimization may require a fair bit of work to be fully realized. For instance, researching the keyword phrases that are popular for your niche or theme.
You may also need to rewrite your site’s contents so that you get the right keyword phrases in your site without making it too awkward to read. There are useful guidelines that can be followed to assist with this.
Also consider collaborating with other web sites to obtain link exchanges and page transfers. Having inbound links definitely increases search engine appeal. Possibly the best way of gaining these is to write quality articles on the subject of your website and submit them to article directories for others to use. This generates desirable one-way links from those who post your articles on their websites, and they have usually selected your article because of its relevance!
When you need help just search the internet. Tips, guidelines and methods for search engine optimization are abundant and easily found. There are also many articles freely available that can help you optimize your website. Just posing the question on Google or inquiring at your favorite article directory will quickly locate some of these. The more informed you are the better. But resist the temptation to buy ebooks when so much free information is available.
This all helps in getting those high rankings. It may require a little time and effort but the benefits can be astounding.
E-commerce is a cut throat business. You have to arm yourself with the knowledge and tools needed to make your site a cut above the rest. Each day, more and more sites clamber for higher rankings and, if you get careless, you may just get trampled and be left in cyber dust.
In recent years, and in the foreseeable future, search engines have been the most widely used internet sources of information. Use them well and prosper.
However, even with effective optimization in place, don’t just rest on your laurels; it is a continuing process. Check your ranking from time to time and also have a good look at what the top sites for a keyword are doing. Why do they have a higher ranking? What do you have to do to secure the top spot? Each day is a new day for all e-commerce sites or, as Scarlet O’Hara said: “Tomorrow is another day!”
